Editor's Note: This article repealed former Ch. 198, Youth Services Committee, adopted by the October Town Meeting of the Town of North Reading 10-16-2006 by Art. 27, approved 2-13-2007.
A. 
There is hereby established a Youth Services Committee. The Committee shall consist of 11 members appointed by the Select Board for alternating three year terms. The Board shall fill any vacancy arising on said Committee for the remainder of the unexpired term.

B. 
At its organization meeting during December of each year, the Committee shall elect a Chair and Vice-Chair.
C. 
The Youth Services Committee shall be authorized to appoint such non-voting associate members as it deems expedient and necessary. All boards and committees of the Town shall be encouraged to communicate with the Youth Services Committee.
A. 
The Youth Services Committee shall be given the following instructions:
(1) 
To work with existing boards and committees in assessing needs, establishing goals, and developing programs to better serve the entire youth community.
(2) 
To oversee activities of a Youth Services Director who shall be appointed by the Town Administrator and who shall be a Town employee.
(3) 
To increase awareness on the Youth Services Committee, its programs and initiatives throughout the community. To work collaboratively with the School Department. To work to increase constructive youth involvement in the community. To promote healthy living by providing resources, programs and facilities that support healthy living; active lifestyles; coping with stress and emotional wellness.
(4) 
To present annually to Town Meeting a report of its activities and budget.
B. 
All boards and committees of the Town shall be encouraged to provide the Youth Services Committee with such reasonable cooperation and assistance as may be within their jurisdiction.
