[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees
of the Village of Greenport 6-14-1976 as L.L. No. 3-1976 (Ch. 64 of

The Village of Greenport, for the preservation
and maintenance of suitable recreation facilities for its citizens
and their guests, hereby enacts this chapter so as to ensure the peaceful,
orderly and most beneficial use of any and all recreational facilities
supported, in whole or in part, or owned by the Village of Greenport.

No persons shall throw, break, cast, lay or
deposit glass bottles, pieces of crockery, glass or glassware, garbage
or refuse or any part thereof, or any injurious substance of any kind
or nature, on any beach or other part of waterfront properties of
the Village of Greenport or any recreation area or building or upon
any parking area or roadway or pathway thereof, and such persons shall
place same in containers as may be provided by the Village of Greenport.

No person or persons shall consume alcoholic
beverages from any container in any village-owned, -leased or -maintained
park or beach without a permit.
No dogs or domestic animals shall be allowed
on beaches or within recreation areas.
Anyone using a beach or recreation area or its
facilities shall do so with the understanding that the village assumes
no responsibility for any injury or damage which such person may sustain
while an occupant of the recreation area or beach or while using any
of the said facilities or related facilities; and the village shall
not be responsible in any manner for any article that may be stolen
from any building, structure, automobile or beach area or for any
automobile or any other article that may be stolen from such automobile.
The selling, vending or offering for sale of
any wares or merchandise or any tickets for admission to entertainment
or other functions or chances or letters or lotteries or the distribution
of leaflets, booklets or any advertising material whatsoever is strictly
prohibited, except in such case and instances as the Village Board
of the Village of Greenport has issued a permit therefor.
No person shall be allowed to park in any parking
facilities as may be provided hereto, unless he shall procure from
the Village Clerk or other persons authorized by him and have in his
possession a permit, as evidenced by a sticker which shall be prominently
displayed on the rear bumper of the vehicle for which it was issued.
Stickers lost or defaced may be reissued.
A.
Parking stickers shall be provided to residents or
property owners of the Village of Greenport. Residency or property
ownership may be established by showing proof of permanent or summer
residency or property ownership either by tax bills or rent receipts
or any such other evidence as will satisfy the Clerk of the applicant's
residency or property ownership in the Village of Greenport.
B.
The permit shall be issued by the Clerk of the Village
of Greenport upon proof of residency, whether full or seasonable,
and upon receipt of $5 for administration charge.

Parking areas in which the sticker is required
shall be located as follows:
A.
Adjacent to said premises known as the "Fifth Street
Park," said parking area line on the easterly side of the property
and on the westerly side of said Fifth Street Park and the southerly
termination of Fifth Street and Sixth Street.
B.
No person shall park a vehicle at any time on either
side of Johnson Place between Fifth Street and Sixth Street.

Conviction for parking without the necessary
permit or sticker shall submit the defendant to a fine of not more
than $50.

There shall be no driving or use of a motor vehicle on any Village
of Greenport public beach without the specific authorization by the
Village of Greenport.

Except as elsewhere provided, violation of any
section of this chapter, upon conviction of such violation, shall
be punishable by a maximum fine of $250 and a minimum fine of $25
or imprisonment for a term of not more than 15 days, or both. The
Village Board may, in addition to the penalties herein provided for
the violation of any provision herein, revoke any permit or sticker
as may be issued pursuant to this chapter.
