A. 
In addition to any other legal requirements or prohibitions, no person shall be eligible to be elected or appointed as mayor, trustee, justice, or member of any board or commission who is not a resident of the Village, except as follows:

(1) 
Two of the Commissioners of the Board of Police Commissioners shall not be required to be residents of the Village so long as such persons are residents of the County of Nassau and such persons have either:
(a) 
Previously served on the Commission of the Board of Police Commissioners for at least 10 years; or
(b) 
Have at least 15 years of service as a police officer.
(2) 
One member of the Landmarks Preservation Commission shall not be required to be a resident of the Village so long as such person is a resident of County of Nassau.
B. 
In addition to any other legal requirements or prohibitions, and in lieu of any other residency requirement imposed by law, no person shall be eligible to be appointed as acting justice or as any other Village office not set forth in Subsection A of this section who is not a resident of the County of Nassau, the County of Suffolk or the City of New York.
Pursuant to the authority granted to villages by Municipal Home Rule Law § 10(1)(ii)(e)(3), the provisions with regard to residency set forth in Subdivision 2 of § 3-300 of the Village Law are hereby superseded in their relation to the Village of Kings Point to the extent as set forth in this chapter.
