[Adopted 3-1-1973 as § 27-1 of Ch. 27 of the
1973 Code]
The Mayor is hereby authorized to waive, in
whole or in part, the interest and penalties accrued on tax sale certificates
owned by the City after the annual date of sale for delinquent taxes.
Such waiver shall be evidenced by a written
memorandum to that effect, specifying the amount sufficient to redeem
the certificate identified therein, signed by the Mayor and Comptroller
and filed in the office of the City Treasurer, who shall thereupon
make appropriate notations upon his/her records and shall then be
authorized to accept in redemption of the tax sale certificate the
amount set forth in such memorandum. The Mayor shall submit a report
to the Council of any such waivers.
