Lake City Borough is hereby authorized to require the numbering and renumbering of any house, building or other structure in accordance with this chapter.
On and after the passage and approval of this chapter, it shall be the duty of each and every owner, trustee, lessee, agent and occupant of each and every house, building or other structure in the Borough of Lake City to cause the same to be numbered with the official street number assigned by Lake City Borough, in accord with this chapter. All persons required to number existing houses, buildings or structures shall contact Lake City Borough and secure an assigned number and official street name, and the number shall be permanently posted as set forth in § 44-4 herein.
The number shall be placed in a conspicuous place on or over each front door, on the front transom bar, front transom glass or front show window, over or on either side of the entrance or on a clearly visible mailbox located upon the subject property, the same number to be of paint, metal or enamel, and at least three inches in height, the color of the numbers to be in contrast to the immediate background, and shall be so placed as to be in full view from the opposite side of the street.
It shall be unlawful to cover any house number with any sign, drapery or other obstruction tending to conceal such number, and all old numbers shall be removed from any house, building or other structure when a new number has been assigned, and then so directed by the Borough Zoning Officer.
All persons required to number buildings, as set forth in § 44-2 herein, shall number existing houses, buildings or structures within 60 days of the effective date of this chapter. The owners of new structures shall procure a number and official street name assignment as part of the normal building permit process. New structures shall be numbered within one calendar month after completion of the structure, to comply with § 44-2 and § 44-3 of this chapter.
Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $300, and/or to imprisonment for a term not to exceed 90 days.
All ordinances or part of ordinances which are inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed, including the prior ordinance set forth in Chapter 44 of the Lake City Borough Code.
