This chapter shall be known as the "Intergovernmental Cooperation - Police Mutual Aid Ordinance."
This chapter is enacted pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 23, Subchapter A, Intergovernmental Cooperation, of the General Local Government Code, 53 Pa. C.S.A. § 2301 et seq.
This Township hereby approves entering into the mutual aid agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference (and which shall be filed with the minutes of the meeting at which this chapter was enacted), with the intent and effect that this Township shall be bounded by the mutual aid agreement to provide mutual aid and cooperative law enforcement efforts and thereby furthering the safety and welfare of the community.
The President or Vice President of the Board, acting alone or together with the Secretary or Assistant Secretary, are hereby authorized and directed on behalf of the Township to execute and deliver the mutual aid agreement and to execute and deliver such additional instruments, and to take such further actions, as may be necessary or appropriate to carry forth the mutual aid agreement and the activities to be effected under the mutual aid agreement.
All actions of any officer, agent or other representative of this Township heretofore taken with respect to the mutual aid agreement and/or the Township's participation therein are hereby ratified and approved in all respects.
The Board of the Township is hereby authorized to take such other action as may be necessary or appropriate to carry out the purposes of this chapter and of the mutual aid agreement to the extent permitted by law.
As required by the Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Cooperation Law,[1] the following matters are specifically found and determined:
A. 
The conditions of the mutual aid agreement are set forth in the mutual aid agreement and § 43-3 of this chapter.
B. 
The term of the mutual aid agreement shall commence upon execution thereof and may be terminated at any time upon 30 days' prior written notice by the Township.
C. 
The purpose and objectives of the agreement are as set forth in § 43-3 of this chapter and in the mutual aid agreement.
D. 
The manner and extent of financing the agreement are that no borrowing will be required by the Township and funds to implement the Township's obligations under the mutual aid agreement shall come from normal and usual budgeted amounts for such matters.
