The Mayor and Council of the Borough of Park Ridge may, on application of the respective fire companies, provide for training of new firemen who shall be designated as "junior firemen."
Any person who is a resident of the Borough of Park Ridge and who is at least sixteen (16) years of age and less than eighteen (18) years of age may become a junior fireman.

Any person desiring to become a junior fireman shall make application to the Chief or Assistant Chief of the Fire Department and shall complete an application prescribed by the Mayor and Council therefor. The name of the applicant shall then be submitted, together with a report of a medical examination, to the Mayor and Council, which, if it approves such applicant, shall designate such applicant as a junior fireman.

The duties of the junior firemen shall be such as are lawfully assigned by the Chief of the Fire Department or as may be prescribed by the Mayor and Council.
