An officer or employee of the Village who becomes disabled and has used up his or her vacation and sick time may be granted a leave of absence under the following conditions.
A. 
An officer or employee must have five or more years of service and may be granted a leave of absence for two months, and the Village will continue his hospitalization for the two months.
B. 
An officer or employee with 10 years or more of service may be granted a six-month leave of absence, and the Village will continue his hospitalization for the six-month period.
An officer or employee with less than five years of service and disabled and/or on leave of absence may continue his or her hospitalization by forwarding his monthly premium in advance of payment to the Village for the required time allowable by the hospitalization carrier.
A. 
An officer or employee must have 90 days of service after a leave of absence to be granted another leave of absence for a related disability.
B. 
An officer or employee must have five days of service after a leave of absence to be granted another leave of absence for an unrelated disability.
An officer or employee disabled due to pregnancy will have the hospitalization continued by the Village when the physician certifies that the officer or employee should take a leave of absence, and coverage will continue until the physician certifies that she is able to return to work.
An officer or employee will be considered disabled when he or she is under the care of a qualified physician, and he or she must be certified by the qualified physician.

If an officer or employee shall become deceased while employed by the Village, the dependent coverage will continue up to 36 months at the cost of the Village. Thereafter, coverage continuance will be according to the requirements of the hospitalization carrier.
This article will apply to disability not covered by workers' compensation.

The following regulations are adopted for the regular noncontracted full-time employees of the Village, retroactive to June 1, 1985.
A. 
A full-time employee, after one year of service, shall be entitled to a vacation period of 14 consecutive calendar days per Village year (June 1 through May 31) or two separate periods of seven consecutive calendar days, at the employee's discretion.
B. 
After five years of service, an employee shall be entitled to 21 consecutive calendar days of vacation per Village year.
C. 
After 13 years of service, an employee shall be entitled to 28 consecutive calendar days of vacation per Village year.
D. 
After 25 years of service, an employee shall be entitled to 33 consecutive calendar days of vacation per Village year.
E. 
With the approval of the head of the department, the requirement that vacation days be taken consecutively may be waived.
F. 
An employee, at his discretion, may be compensated for up to seven accrued vacation days at the end of the fiscal year (May 31) if not used and may, with good cause shown and the permission of the department head, carry over to the next fiscal year up to seven days of accrued vacation time.
G. 
Vacations will be scheduled by the head of the department subject to the limitations set forth above.
