[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Council (now City Council) of the Town (now City) of Glenarden 10-12-1976 as Sec. 11-7 of the 1976 Code. Amendments noted where applicable.]
A. 
All organizations, whether charitable, religious, secular, commercial or otherwise, which seek funds from the public, sell products of any nature or offer services involving the payment of a fee or the entering into a contract shall, prior to engaging in any door-to-door solicitation in the City, make written application to the City Manager for permission to engage in any such solicitation. Such application shall include the following information:
(1) 
The name and address of the organization.
(2) 
The name of the responsible head of the organization.
(3) 
Proof of registration with the state and county, where required.
(4) 
Letters of reference, brochures or literature.
(5) 
The name, address, phone number and profile of the representative who will solicit.
B. 
Upon compliance with the foregoing requirement and approval by the Council, a certificate of registration and permission to solicit in the City shall be issued from the office of the City Manager. Local nonprofit organizations within the City, such as the Boys Club, Boy Scouts and others listed at the City Hall as being nonprofit, are exempt from this requirement.

Violation of any provision of this chapter shall be deemed a municipal infraction and shall be punishable as provided in § 1-20B of this Code.
