[Adopted 4-3-1980 as Sec. 2-2 of the 1980 Code]
The Council shall consist of the Mayor and six councilmen, all of whom shall be elected at large in the borough and take office in the manner provided by law. Their term of office shall commence January 1 next following their election.
Pursuant to the borough law, a vacancy occurring in the office of the Mayor or any member of the Council shall be filled in the manner provided by N.J.S.A. 40:45B-2, "Municipal Governing Body Vacancy Law."

The Council, through this article, hereby adopts rules of procedure.
Council shall take appropriate action to ensure that ordinances and resolutions of the preceding year are compiled or codified.

Members of the Mayor and Council shall, before they enter on the duties of their respective offices, take and subscribe the following oath or affirmation: "I do solemnly swear or affirm that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of New Jersey, and that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same and to the governments established in the United States and in this state, under the authority of the people." A person authorized by the Constitution or law shall administer the oath or affirmation to the member(s).
