The Township Council of the Township of Washington, County of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, constituting the municipal authority of said township as defined in the Act of Assembly known as the "Municipality Authorities Act of 1945," Pamphlet Laws 382,[1] hereby signifies its intention to organize an Authority under the provisions of said Act of Assembly, its supplements and amendments.

In pursuance of said intention, the Articles of Incorporation of said Authority are hereby approved and adopted by the Township Council upon behalf of said Township of Washington in the following form:
ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION
(a)
The name of the Authority shall be: "Washington Township Sewer and Water Authority".[1]
(b)
The Authority is formed under the Act of Assembly known as "Municipality Authorities Act of 1945," approved May 2, 1945, Pamphlet Laws 382, as supplemented and amended. There have been no other authorities formed under this Act and there are no other Authorities in the township.
(c)
The name of the incorporating municipality is Township of Washington. The names and addresses of the Supervisors of said incorporating municipality are as follows:

The terms of office of the first members of the Board of Washington Township Sewer and Water Authority shall begin on the date of enactment of this Ordinance and terms of the first members of the Board, as above set forth, shall be computed from the first day of January, 1970.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned Supervisors have executed these Articles of Incorporation on behalf of the Township of Washington, County of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, and have caused the signatures to be attested by the Secretary of the Township and the Township seal to be affixed this 4th day of April, 1970.

The Washington Township Sewer and Water Authority[1] is organized for the following purposes: to acquire, hold, construct, improve, maintain and operate, own, either in capacity of lessor or lessee, either individually or by agreement with any other authority or authorities, any municipality or municipalities, sanitary sewers, sanitary sewer systems or parts thereof, sewage treatment works, including works for treating and disposing of industrial waste, water works, water supply works and water distribution systems, and for these purposes to have, possess and enjoy all the rights, benefits and privileges granted to such Authorities by the Municipality Authorities Act of 1945, its supplements and amendments.[2]

The Chairman and members of the Township Council of the Township of Washington are hereby authorized and directed to execute said Articles of Incorporation upon behalf of said township, and the Secretary of the township is authorized and directed to attest said signatures and affix the Seal of said township, cause a notice of the filing of said Articles of Incorporation to be published once in the Erie County Legal Journal and once in The Weekly Sentinel, as required by the Municipality Authorities Act of 1945, its supplements and amendments, and to file a certified copy of this article, together with proofs of publication of notice of filing said Articles of Incorporation, with the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, accompanied by the required filing fee as provided by said Municipality Authorities Act of 1945, its supplements and amendments.
