The Department of Licenses and Inspections shall
be responsible for the protection of persons and properties within
the municipality through the enforcement of building and related structural
codes and property maintenance codes.
The Department of Licenses and Inspections shall
be headed by the Building Inspector who shall be appointed by and
responsible to the Manager for the performance and function of the
Department.
Duties of the Building Inspector shall be to:
A.
Enforce building, electrical, plumbing, heating, housing,
property maintenance and such other related structural and property
maintenance codes as may be enacted by law or ordinance.
B.
Issue such licenses and permits as may be required
by law or ordinance.
C.
Serve as secretary to the BOCA Appeals Board.
D.
Serve as a member of the Historic Architectural Review
Board.
E.
Register journeyman and master plumbers, inspect all
plumbing installations and alterations, issue plumbing permits and
sewer connection permits.
F.
Receive applications for building, plumbing, electrical,
mechanical, use and occupancy and sign permits, determine their compliance
with all applicable codes and inspect all work in progress.
