No person shall engage in the business of auctioneer in the Village of Great Neck Plaza without first obtaining an annual license therefor.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
AUCTIONEER
Any person who, with or without authorization, sells lands or goods owned by him or by others at a public or private sale to the highest bidder.
A. 
An annual fee of $50 shall be paid before a license is issued hereunder.
B. 
Said license shall be issued and paid fee collected by the Clerk of said village, subject to the approval or ratification by the Mayor of the village, to such persons as said Clerk shall deem fit and proper for said business.
C. 
Any applicant who shall have been refused such license by said Clerk may apply to the Board of Trustees of the village for such license at a meeting of said Board, and said license may be granted or refused by said Board. The Clerk, with the approval or ratification of the Mayor, may suspend for cause any such license until the next meeting of the Board of Trustees, and thereupon any such license may be revoked or continued by the board.
Violation of the provisions of this chapter or any of them shall constitute a violation and shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $250 or by imprisonment for a term not to exceed 15 days, or both. Each day that a violation of the provisions of this chapter continues to exist shall constitute a separate violation.
