[Adopted 5-3-1948]
In order that there may be a just and equitable regard by the Village for the welfare of its employees when and if they are forced to absent themselves from work because of sickness, effective this date, all employees of the Village of Irvington, including those appointed under civil service rules and regulations and all other employees whether on an annual salary or per diem basis of pay, shall be entitled to a total of 10 days of sick leave in each year and shall be paid at their normal rate of compensation for each of said 10 days.
Such 10 days of sick leave, if not previously taken advantage of, shall be cumulative for a period of nine years for a maximum of 90 days of leave, which said 90 days of cumulative leave shall continue to be available in any year succeeding said nine-year period, but in no event shall the total available sick leave be in excess of 90 days in any year subsequent to said nine years.
No sick leave with compensation shall be granted to any employee not regularly and continually employed by the Village for a period of more than one year, and no sick leave compensation shall be granted to any temporary or seasonal employee.
After three days' illness a doctor's certificate will be required in order to obtain sick leave benefits.
This article shall be retroactive to January 1, 1950.
All previously adopted resolutions governing sick leave are rescinded, canceled and repealed.
