A. 
All police officials (Sergeants, Lieutenants and Chief) shall have an annual vacation of four weeks after their first full year of service to this Village.
B. 
All other police personnel shall have an annual vacation of three weeks after their first full year of service to this Village up to a ten-year consecutive service period, after which said personnel shall receive four weeks' vacation annually.
All heads of departments shall have an annual vacation of three weeks after their first full year of service in said capacity up to 10 years' consecutive service period in any capacity, after which said heads of departments shall receive four weeks' vacation annually.
All employees (except head of department) shall have an annual vacation of three weeks after their first full year of service, due to working all holidays except Christmas and New Year's, up to a ten-year consecutive service period, after which they shall receive four weeks' vacation annually.
All other employees of the Village shall have an annual vacation of two weeks after their first full year of service to the Village up to a ten-year consecutive service period, after which said employees shall receive three weeks' vacation annually.
The term "consecutive" shall be defined as follows:
A. 
Military leave, provided that the return to work is made at the expiration of said military service, shall count toward consecutive service.
B. 
Authorized leaves of absence,[1]provided that the return to work is made at the expiration of said permitted leave, shall count toward consecutive service.

The Village year for vacation purposes is established as the period from the first day of March to the last day of February; a person who has been permanently employed for a full year prior to the first of March shall be entitled to the full vacation due the position; a person permanently employed for less than one year prior to the first day of March shall have his vacation period apportioned according to the number of months permanently employed.

The cash value of accumulated but unused vacation time shall be paid to all permanently appointed employees upon their retirement from Village service, or in case of death in service, paid to their beneficiaries; said payment shall not exceed the amount of vacation due for one year, and if the length of service is less than one year, it shall be apportioned according to the number of months permanently employed.
