Water supply systems — See Ch. 522.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
OUTDOOR WATER USAGE
Lawn and garden watering, filling or refilling of pools, and washing of automobiles or outside surfaces, such as driveways, sidewalks or exterior surfaces of buildings.
Restrictions on outdoor water usage are in place throughout the year. Outdoor water usage shall be restricted to alternate days as follows: properties with odd-numbered addresses are permitted outdoor water usage on odd-numbered days with the exception of the 31st of any month; properties with even-numbered addresses are permitted outdoor water usage on even-numbered days. The local water purveyor may assign service locations that do not have a physical address to either an odd- or even-use schedule. These restrictions apply to properties served by public water utilities and privately owned wells. Businesses who by their nature rely on outdoor water usage as an integral part of daily operations, such as nurseries, garden centers, car washes or power washers, as well as newly planted sod, for a period of two weeks after planting, shall be exempt from these outdoor water usage restrictions.
In the event of a water emergency declared by the local water purveyor, or by the Township Committee, or under county or state authority, the Township Committee of the Township of Hazlet, reserves the right to ban, by resolution, all outdoor water usage until the emergency is ended.
This chapter shall be enforced by the issuance of a summons and complaint by any police officer of the Township.
Each violation of this chapter shall be subject to a penalty as set forth in Chapter 1, Article III, General Penalty, or any subsequent amendments thereto.
