A.
The dual position of Zoning Enforcement Officer and
Zoning Review Officer is hereby established.
B.
The Zoning Review Officer's responsibility shall be
limited to the review function, and the Zoning Enforcement Officer's
responsibility shall be zoning enforcement. Additionally, there shall
be an Assistant Zoning Review Officer who, in the absence of the Zoning
Review Officer, shall fulfill the responsibilities of the Zoning Review
Officer.
The position of Zoning Officer shall be a part-time
position and shall receive such compensation as is from time to time
provided by ordinance. The terms shall be for one year, and the appointment
shall be made by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council.
The hours shall be fixed by resolution of the Mayor and Council.
A.
The Zoning Officer shall have the responsibility to make such inspections as are necessary for the purposes of enforcing Chapter 600, Zoning, and, in addition, whenever a building permit application is submitted or a certificate of occupancy or reoccupancy application is submitted to the Construction Official, the Zoning Official shall make an inspection to determine compliance with the provisions of Chapter 600, Zoning. No permit shall be issued by the Construction Official unless the Zoning Officer has issued a written certificate of compliance with Chapter 600, Zoning.
B.
The Zoning Officer shall have no responsibilities
concerning the enforcement of the Uniform Construction Code, and those
responsibilities shall repose exclusively in the Construction Officials
duly appointed pursuant to the Uniform Construction Code.
