The authority to name streets in the Borough and to change the name of streets shall repose in the Mayor and Council.
In any development project which involves the creation of new streets, the governing body shall have the right to name the streets or to change the name of the streets. Prior to issuance of certificates of occupancy for property fronting on any new street created as a result of a land use approval, the applicant for the certificate of occupancy shall submit to the Mayor and Council a copy of the plan on which the new street is depicted, together with the developer's proposed name. The Mayor and Council may by resolution approve the name or change the name of any new street. Prior to the erection of any new street signs on a new street, the developer shall seek approval of the Mayor and Council of the name of the proposed new street.
In any instance in which the governing body wishes to approve the name of a proposed new street, change the name of an existing street or change the name of a proposed new street, it shall do so by resolution.
