The Legislature has declared that "public office is a public trust and any effort to realize personal financial gain through public office, other than compensation provided by law, is a violation of the trust." Act of October 4, 1978, P.L. 883, No. 170, § 1, 65 P.S. § 401 et seq., as amended.
All elected, appointed and hired officials and employees of the county are charged with obtaining an understanding of the Conflicts of Interest Law[1] as part of their county service. The county shall make available a copy of the Conflicts of Interest Law upon request of any employee or appointed or elected official.
