This chapter may be referred to and cited as the "Board of Health Ordinance."
A seven-member Board of Health for the Borough of Hampton is hereby established.
The Board of Health shall consist of the Mayor and Council. Each member's term on the Board of Health shall be coextensive with his or her term of office on the governing body.
The Board of Health shall have the power to adopt rules and regulations for its own governance and shall have those powers enumerated in N.J.S.A. 26:3-31 et seq.
The Board of Health shall annually elect from its membership a Chairman. The Board may also elect a Secretary from its membership or designate the Borough Clerk as its Secretary.
The Board of Health shall not contract any debt or debts of any kind beyond the amount of the appropriation first made for its use by the Borough Council.
Members of the Board of Health shall receive no additional compensation for their service.
All ordinances now in effect enacted by the Board of Health as formally constituted shall remain in full force and effect and shall be administered and enforced, where applicable, by the Board of Health as constituted herein.
In the event that Chapter 3 of Title 26 of the Revised Statutes should be further amended or supplemented, the provision of any such amendments or supplements shall be applicable to the provisions hereof to the extent of any inconsistency.
