There is hereby created in the Borough of Hampton the position of Chief Financial Officer.
The currently appointed Borough Treasurer shall serve as the Chief Financial Officer. Every reference to the "Borough Treasurer" which appears in the Hampton Code or in Borough ordinances or Borough resolutions shall hereinafter be deemed to be a reference to the "Chief Financial Officer."
On or after January 1, 1991, no person shall be appointed or reappointed Chief Financial Officer or Municipal Finance Officer (as is defined in N.J.S.A. 40A:9-140.1, as the same is from time to time amended) unless he or she holds a municipal finance officer certificate issued pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-140.1 et seq., or has been granted tenure in office pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-140.8 or P.L. 1988, c. 110, or pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-152.

The Chief Financial Officer and any other municipal finance officer shall acquire tenure in office and continue to hold office during good behavior and efficiency in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:9-140.1 et seq., as the same is from time to time amended.
