[Adopted 11-2-1987 (§ 1-14.1 of the 1987 Code)]
A. 
Whenever in the Code adopted by this ordinance or in any other ordinance or resolution of the Township or in any rule, regulation or order promulgated by any officer or agency of the Township under authority duly vested in them or if any act is prohibited or is made or declared to be unlawful or an offense or a misdemeanor or the doing of any act is required or the failure to do any act is declared to be unlawful or an offense or a misdemeanor, where no specific penalty is provided therefor, the violation of any such provision of such Code or any other ordinance or resolution of the Township or such rule, regulation or order shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $2,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days or a period of community service not exceeding 90 days, or by any combination of such fine, imprisonment and/or community service.
B. 
Whenever any provision of the New Jersey Revised Statutes limits the authority of the Township to punish the violation of any particular provision of the Code hereby adopted or any other Township ordinance or resolution or rule, regulation or order promulgated pursuant thereto to a fine of less amount than that provided in this section or imprisonment or community service for a shorter term than that provided in this section, then the violation of such particular provision of such Code or other Township ordinance, resolution, rule, regulation or order shall be punished by the imposition of not more than the maximum fine, imprisonment or community service so authorized, or by any combination of such fine, imprisonment and/or community service.

C. 
Each day any violation of such Code or any other Township ordinance or resolution or rule, regulation or order promulgated pursuant thereto shall continue shall constitute a separate offense, unless otherwise provided.
D. 
Whenever any such fine is imposed upon any corporation, such fine and costs and charges incident thereto may be collected in an action of debt or in such other manner as may be provided by law.
E. 
Any fine in an amount greater than $1,250 upon an owner for violations of housing or zoning codes shall provide a thirty-day period in which the owner shall be afforded the opportunity to cure or abate the condition and shall also be afforded an opportunity for a hearing before a court of competent jurisdiction for an independent determination concerning the violation. Subsequent to the expiration of the thirty-day period, a fine greater than $1,250 may be imposed if a court has not determined otherwise or, upon reinspection of the property, it is determined that the abatement has not been substantially completed.
