[Adopted 12-13-1967 as Ch. 9, Art. I, of the 1967 Code]
There is hereby created the office of Assistant Tax Collector of the City of Linwood, Atlantic County, New Jersey.

Said Assistant Tax Collector shall be appointed by a majority of all the members of the Common Council and shall serve until such time as a successor has been duly appointed by the Common Council.
The duties of the Assistant Tax Collector shall be to assist the Tax Collector of the City of Linwood in the collection of taxes. He shall, as part of his duties, operate the addressograph machine, keep the tax books up-to-date as to the change of owners and their addresses, receive payments for taxes and receipt the bills therefor, but all tax sales shall be conducted and all tax sale certificates executed by the Tax Collector in person.
The Assistant Tax Collector, before entering upon the duties of his office, shall furnish and execute a bond with a qualified surety company for the faithful performance of his duties in the same amount as is required for the Tax Collector.
The official tax searcher of the City of Linwood shall be the Tax Collector.
The Assistant Tax Collector shall be a full-time employee and his office shall be in the City Hall of said City.
The City Clerk is eligible to receive and hold the appointment to the office of Assistant Tax Collector, and also as Clerk to the Municipal Court of the City of Linwood if so appointed by the Common Council.
All salaries of municipal officers and employees shall be in accordance with the current municipal Salary Ordinance; see Chapter 66, Salaries.
