[Adopted by Ord. No. 1308 as Ch. 2.44 of the 1998 Code; amended
in its entirety at time of adoption of Code (see Ch. 1, General Provisions,
Art. I)]
A Construction Department is hereby created
in the Township of Montville. It shall consist of the Construction
Official, who shall be appointed by the Administrator, subject to
the approval of the Committee, and one or more inspectors. The Construction
Official shall be appointed for a term of one year ending on December
31 of each year and shall be the head of the Department. The provisions
of this article shall be subject to the applicable requirements of
the State Uniform Construction Code.
The Construction Department shall:

Review and approve all plans prior to the issuance
of building permits, issue permits under the Building Code of the
Township, make inspections during construction to ensure compliance
with said code and other applicable ordinances and laws and otherwise
enforce the provisions of the Building Code.
B.Â
Be responsible for the enforcement of Chapter 230, Land Use, throughout the Township, make periodic inspections to ensure compliance therewith, issue certificates of occupancy in appropriate cases, order the removal or termination of violations and prosecute willful violations in the Municipal Court.
C.Â
Make inspections of installations of storm and sanitary
sewers, waterlines, curbs, roads and other projects as may be requested
by the Township Engineer and the Administrator.
D.Â
Keep detailed records of all applications, permits
issued, inspections made and other action taken and render written
reports thereof to the Administrator and Committee upon specific request.
E.Â
Perform such other duties as may be assigned to it
by ordinance or the Administrator.
