§ 54-1Protection for depositors; fee.
§ 54-2Record, report and payment for service.
§ 54-3Protection without charge; use of police vehicles.
The practice by the Police Department of transporting merchants and other persons to or from banks from their place of business or their home is hereby prohibited, except and unless a fee shall be paid for said service. The fee for such service shall be as established from time to time by resolution of the Board of Trustees.
The Police Department shall keep daily accurate records of all transportation of persons coming within the provisions of this chapter, and a report thereof shall be submitted each day to the Village Clerk, and all bills therefor shall be forwarded monthly. Any person who shall fail to pay his bill within one month shall have the service discontinued.
Nothing in this chapter shall be deemed to preclude the Police Department from following any person or merchant with any payroll to the bank or to any other point or place in the Village of Monticello for the purpose of providing adequate police protection without charge. However, this chapter shall prohibit without the payment of fee any taxi service or accommodation in a police vehicle of persons to and from their place of business and/or home and/or bank with police protection in police vehicles to the disadvantage of taxis, or the use by policemen of their own vehicles for said purpose, all at the expense of the taxpayers and unreasonable demands which have been made upon the Police Department in the past.
