There is hereby established the Business and Economic Development Council in the Township of Greenwich.

The Business and Economic Development Council shall be comprised of up to eight members: the chairperson; a secretary; and up to six other members, of which one shall be a member of the Township Council. All members shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Township Council for a term of one year. When required, the Township Attorney shall provide legal advice to the Council but shall not be a member of the Business and Economic Development Council.
The members of said Business and Economic Development Council shall receive no compensation for their services.
The Business and Economic Development Council may employ or contract for, and fix the compensation of experts and other staff and services as it may deem necessary, not exceeding, exclusive of gifts or grants, the amount appropriated by the governing body for its use.
The Business and Economic Development Council shall be responsible for promoting economic development in the Township of Greenwich and is authorized to conduct the following activities to achieve this purpose:
A. 
Recommend and establish policies and programs to promote economic development in the Township of Greenwich;
B. 
Establish, maintain and promote the Township of Greenwich through positive public relations and marketing campaigns;
C. 
Implement programs, plans and mechanisms to attract and maintain commercial businesses in Greenwich Township;
D. 
Assist existing businesses in the promotion, maintenance and furtherance of their business objectives;
E. 
Recommend strategies to maximize the Township's economic growth and create job opportunities for the citizens of Greenwich Township;
F. 
Coordinate, when feasible, the Township's economic development policies in concert with those of the Gloucester County Municipal Economic Development Council.
