There is hereby continued a Parking Authority
for the Town of Ridgefield, which Authority shall henceforth consist
of five members, which members shall be appointed by the Board of
Selectmen. Within 30 days of the adoption hereof the Board of Selectmen
shall appoint five members to said Authority whose terms shall commence
at 12:01 a.m. on January 3, 1985, at which time the terms of the current
three members shall expire. The five members shall thereafter be appointed
annually to one-year terms.
The Parking Authority shall have the power to
establish rules and regulations for the parking of motor vehicles
within the Town. The Parking Authority shall have the ability to levy
fines and lay out parking areas. The Parking Authority does not have
the power to purchase or install parking meters.
Any expenses for the Parking Authority shall
be first approved by the Board of Finance and transfers made in accordance
with the Charter of the Town of Ridgefield. All leases, purchases,
condemnations or other forms of acquisitions must first be approved
by the Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance and Town Meeting.
