For purposes of this article, the following
definitions apply:
A heating unit designed to use solid, liquid or gaseous fuel
not connected with a distribution system and designed to heat the
area in which it is located.
It shall be unlawful for any person to use,
maintain or install in any dwelling unit a space heater unless it
shall meet the following standards. It shall:
A.
Have a factory-installed flue collar;
B.
Be firmly affixed in a permanent position by a rigid
connection;
C.
If a gas heater, be equipped with a factory-installed
one-hundred-percent safety shutoff valve; and
D.
Be firmly connected to a chimney by a flue or stack,
horizontal flue travel not to exceed six feet unless a greater length
is approved in writing by the Building Official, or if a gas heater,
be of the through-the-wall vented type, combining air intake with
the vent, as approved by the American Gas Association, provided that
such through-the-wall installation is approved in writing by the Building
Official.
A permit to install a space heater as above provided shall be obtained from the Building Official of the Town, upon application and payment of a fee as provided in Chapter 170, Fees, § 170-2. Said fee may be increased upon recommendation of the Building Official and approval of the Board of Selectmen so as to reasonably cover related administrative costs.

Every person who shall violate this article
shall be guilty of a violation and shall, upon conviction, be punished
by a fine of not more than $100. Each day of violation of any provision
of this article shall constitute a separate and distinct violation.

For purposes of this article, the following
definitions apply:
An integrated system of underground and overhead piping,
including a water supply such as gravity tank, fire pump, reservoir,
pressure tank, or connection by underground piping to a public main,
said system complying in all respects with the requirements for such
systems contained in appropriate standards issued by the National
Fire Protection Association.[1]
