The Borough Code 53 P.S. § 46127(b)
is incorporated herein as if more fully set forth herein.
Borough Council hereby allows the Board of Education
of the East Stroudsburg Area School District (Board of Directors)
to assume the hiring and oversight of school crossing guards within
the Borough of East Stroudsburg.
The Stroud Regional Police Department will provide
any necessary training of and assistance to the school crossing guards
hired by the East Stroudsburg Area Board of Education while on duty.
School crossing guards shall be authorized only
in the management of traffic and pedestrians in and around the areas
identified by the Police Department and the School District Superintendent
and his or her designees.
A.
The Board of Education of the East Stroudsburg Area
School District (School Directors) shall have the authority to fix
and establish compensation of any and all school crossing guards within
the Borough of East Stroudsburg, and any and all persons designated
as school crossing guards shall be employees of the School District
and shall come under the provisions of the Code as set forth in 53
P.S. § 46127(b). Upon approval by the Borough Council of
this article, the School District shall assume the payment of compensation
including the fixing of such compensation, if any, for the school
crossing guards.
B.
Auxiliary policemen appointed as prescribed by general
law may be hired by the School District to serve as school crossing
guards.
The Board of Education (School Directors) shall
notify the Borough Council of those individuals hired to serve as
school crossing guards, and may request from the Borough Council from
time to time to have the police provide necessary training or assistance.
