[Adopted 5-13-2003 by L.L. No. 2-2003]
The County of Washington has recently been awarded an Empire Zone by the State of New York and has recently adopted special modifications pursuant to Real Property Tax Law of the State of New York providing for certain real property tax exemptions for property located within the zone. Because portions of the Empire Zone are located within the Town of Greenwich, the purpose of this article is that the Town provide for the same real property tax exemptions which the county has adopted.
This article is enacted pursuant to the provisions of § 485-e of the Real Property Tax Law of the State of New York.
The Town of Greenwich hereby adopts the real property tax exemption for eligible properties as set forth in Real Property Tax Law § 485-e.
The Town of Greenwich hereby further provides, pursuant to Real Property Tax Law § 485-e, Subdivision 1-a(a), that the exemption so authorized shall be for a term of 10 years, notwithstanding that the designation of the Empire Zone may expire prior to the end of such ten-year term.
