There is hereby established in the Borough of Glen Gardner, Hunterdon
County, a department to be known as the "Borough of Glen Gardner Sanitation
Department," which shall be under the supervision, management and control
of the Mayor and Borough Council of the Borough of Glen Gardner and its Sanitation
Committee.
A Commissioner of Sanitation, a Deputy Commissioner of Sanitation and
a Clerk of the Sanitation Department shall be appointed annually by the Mayor
and confirmed by the Borough Council, each to serve for one year or until
a successor is duly appointed. The duties of said officers shall be as prescribed
by the Borough Council from time to time. The annual salaries of said officers
shall be fixed by the Salary Ordinance which the Borough Council may from
time to time adopt.
It shall be the responsibility and function of the Borough of Glen Gardner
Sanitation Department to provide for the collection and disposal of solid
waste, refuse and garbage within the Borough of Glen Gardner and such other
areas as directed by the Glen Gardner Borough Council. The Commissioner of
Sanitation may prescribe and publish reasonable rates, rules and regulations
for the proper and efficient carrying out of such function, with the consent
and approval of the Borough Council.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent with the provisions of this chapter are hereby appealed. Specifically, §§
40-1 through 40-7, inclusive, of the Code of the Borough of Glen Gardner, adopted February 3, 1976, as amended, are hereby repealed in their entirety, and the duties, responsibilities and functions and the assets and liabilities of the Borough of Glen Gardner Sanitation Utility shall be assumed by the Borough of Glen Gardner Sanitation Department, effective January 1, 2000.
