The Light and Power Department will use reasonable diligence to provide a continuous, regular and uninterrupted supply of service, but should the supply be interrupted by the Light and Power Department for the purpose of making repairs, changes or improvements in any part of its system for the general good of the service or for the safety of the public or should the supply or service be interrupted or fail by reason of accident, strike, legal process, state interference or any other cause whatever, the Borough shall not be liable for damages, direct or consequential, resulting from such interruption or failure.
The Light and Power Department's service connections, transformers, meters and appliances have a definite limited capacity, and the customer shall notify the Light and Power Department, in writing, of any additions to the customer's connected load so that adequate facilities may be provided. The customer will complete a load data sheet and present the same to the Department prior to purchasing or installing additional loads. The customer will be held responsible for any damage resulting from a violation of this rule.
Where demands are reassessed or power recomputed or customers found to be on an improper rate as the result of an investigation made at the customer's request or as a result of a Department inspection, the change of billing to the new demand or power factor or to the proper rate may be applied, within its net-payment period to the bill for the regular meter reading preceding such investigation and will, in any event, apply to the bill for the month during which the check is made.
A. 
No person shall have electric current turned on or used in any new building or in any building hereafter wired for electricity unless and until all the electric wiring in such building shall first have been inspected and approved, in writing by an approved inspector or an equivalent organization approved by the Department and proof of such inspection and approval shall have been exhibited to the Light and Power Department. Existing buildings which have had their electrical systems altered must also be inspected and approved prior to having electric current turned on in the building. No officer, employee or agent of the Light and Power Department shall hereafter make any electrical connections with any such building until a proper certificate of approval of the wiring in such building issued by an approved inspector or an equivalent organization approved by the Department shall have been exhibited to said officer, employee or agent. All temporary services shall first be properly grounded and inspected before a service installation shall be made to any building.
B. 
All new wiring in new and existing buildings must be installed in a manner consistent with the latest edition of the National Electrical Code.
No officer, agent or employee of the Light and Power Department shall demand or accept any compensation or reward from any customer or other person for services rendered in connection with the electric system; it being the intent of this section that all officers, agents and employees of the Light and Power Department shall be compensated for such services solely by the salaries and/or wages paid therefor by the Borough.
No person shall willfully and intentionally interfere with or molest in any way wires or equipment of the Borough of Lehighton over or by which the Borough furnishes or intends to furnish electric current to any of its customers or to the streetlights operated by it.
All customers using electrical energy shall maintain their equipment in such manner and shall provide such auxiliary devices as may be necessary so to prevent any adverse impact upon the Borough's electrical distribution system, interference with radio or other communication signals and undue fluctuation of load resulting in flickering lights or other disturbances. The Light and Power Department may refuse to serve or to continue to serve premises wherein the requirements of this section are not carried out.
A. 
The Borough of Lehighton prohibits any electric generation supplier from serving end-use customers within the municipal limits of the Borough of Lehighton.
B. 
No person shall purchase electric energy from the Light and Power Department and resell such energy.
C. 
Customer service generation will be allowed in the Borough subject to the Borough of Lehighton technical requirements for customer-owned generation.[1] Such technical requirements may be amended from time to time by Lehighton Borough Council by resolution.
