The President and Secretary of the Borough and the Mayor thereof be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute and deliver to the State Agency a plan and agreement as required under Section 6 of said Enabling Act, and the Social Security Act, to extend coverage to employees and officers of the Borough of Tarentum and do any and all necessary things to effectuate coverage of said employees and officers under Old Age and Survivors Insurance System.

Editor's Note: Ordinance No. 1938, adopted 10-4-1968, provided as follows: "That the proper officers of the Borough are authorized, ordered and directed to execute a new plan and agreement form so that the Borough's coverage of public employees will conform to the 1967 amendments to the Social Security Act, said agreement being attached hereto and made a part of this Ordinance, which plan and agreement is on file in the secretary's office of the Borough of Tarentum Lock Street, Tarentum, Pennsylvania."
The Borough Manager is hereby authorized and directed to establish a system of payroll deductions to be matched by payments by the Borough of Tarentum and paid into the contribution fund of the Social Security Act through the office of the State Agency and to make such charges of this tax to the fund from which wage or salary payments are issued to employees of the borough. Such payments shall be made in accordance with the provisions of the law and such regulations as may be promulgated by the State Agency and the Federal Security Administrator. Any payments that may become delinquent shall bear interest at the rate of 1/2 of 1% per month until such payments are made.
An appropriation is hereby made from the general funds of the Borough of Tarentum in an amount necessary to pay into the contribution fund provided in Section 4 of the Enabling Act[1] and in accordance with the plan and agreement herein referred to.

The President and Secretary of the borough are hereby authorized and directed, and authority is given to the Mayor thereof, to enter into an agreement with the State Agency in accordance with Act No. 491[1] above referred to and paragraph 218 of the Social Security Act; said plan and agreement shall provide that the participation of the Borough of Tarentum shall commence as of January 1, 1951.
