The WSD and other duly authorized employees
of the town bearing proper credentials and identification shall be
permitted to enter all properties for the purposes of inspection,
observation and meter reading in accordance with the provisions of
this chapter.
While performing the necessary work on private
properties referred to above, the WSD or duly authorized employees
of the town shall observe all safety rules applicable to the premises
established by the property owner, and the property owner shall be
held harmless for injury or death to the town employees, and the town
shall indemnify the property owner against loss or damage to its property
by town employees and against liability claims and demands for personal
injury or property damage asserted against the property owner and
growing out of inspection or meter reading operations, except as such
may be caused by negligence or failure of the property owner to maintain
safe conditions.
