The purpose of this chapter is to support our schools, both public and private, in their work of protecting and educating our children against the ravages of drug abuse.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
DRUG-FREE ZONE
Any area within 1,000 feet of any school ground within the Village of Johnson City.
SCHOOL GROUNDS
Buildings, playing fields and land contained within the real property boundary line of a public or private elementary, junior high or high school.
The Police Chief of the Village of Johnson City, or his designee, may procure and place signs in drug-free zones, giving notice that the area is a drug-free zone and stating that violators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
