GENERAL REFERENCES
Zoning — See Ch. 300.
For the purpose of this chapter, the words "sign," "directional sign," and "wall sign" shall be defined as provided in § 300-70.2. The words "enforcement official" shall be defined as such person as may be designated by the Board of Trustees to enforce the provisions of this chapter.
No sign shall be erected or altered in physical structure until the permit required by § 300-52.4 has been obtained and the information required by said section has been submitted.
A. 
The permit for the erection of a sign shall be as follows:
(1) 
Signs with an area of 100 square feet or less: $40.
(2) 
Signs with an area greater than 100 square feet but less than 150 square feet: $60.
(3) 
Signs with an area greater than 150 square feet: $100.
B. 
The method of calculating areas shall be as specified in § 300-52.7A(2).
C. 
An annual license fee for the maintenance and continued operation of a sign shall be $30 for an illuminated sign and $20 for nonilluminated signs.
D. 
The license fees in Subsection C shall be paid annually during the month of January, and in the event that they are not paid by April 30 of that year, an additional penalty of $10 will be added; the fees may be added to the owner's Village property tax bill under whose property the sign is located and be collected as any other Village tax.
E. 
Any modifications of the above fee rates shall be permitted by resolution of the Village Board.
In the event that a permit is issued by the enforcement official for the erection or alteration of a sign, the applicant shall, for protective purposes and at the discretion of the enforcement official, be required to file a suitable public liability bond with the Village, approved as to its form by the Village Attorney, to indemnify and save harmless the Village from any and all damages, judgments, costs and expenses which such Village may incur or suffer from or by reason of the granting of such a permit, during the erection thereof.
A. 
The Village Clerk shall designate upon both the original and copy of the sign permit application the payment of the fee required, and all fees received by the Clerk shall be paid into the general fund of the Village.
B. 
All sign permits issued under the provisions of this chapter shall be numbered consecutively and shall contain a brief description of the sign authorized to be erected, altered, relocated, reconstructed or maintained; the name and address of the applicant; the street and number where said sign shall be maintained; the amount of the permit fee; the date of its issuance; and the expiration date thereof.
C. 
A duplicate of all permits issued hereunder shall be kept on file with each application in the office of the enforcement official.
All sign permits pursuant to the provisions of this chapter shall expire on the 31st day of December next after date of issuance.
The enforcement official may at any time for a violation of this chapter or Chapter 300, Article 52, of this Code revoke any sign permit upon notice to the person named in the application and after a hearing at a time specified in such notice. The determination of said enforcement official shall be final, and he or she shall thereafter and within three days file a copy of his or her determination of such hearing with the Village Clerk.
