Officers and employees — See Ch. 24.
As part of the Omnibus Drug Legislation enacted on November 18, 1988, Congress passed the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988. The Act became effective March 18, 1989, and applies to grants, new contracts, or modifications of previous contracts which occur after March 18, 1989.
The Village of LeRoy is committed to maintaining a drug-free workplace. The Village of LeRoy will continue its policy of prohibiting any unlawful drug-related activities, including the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensing, possession or use of a controlled substance.
Accordingly the following activities, per federal legislation, are prohibited:
A.
Drinking or possessing alcoholic beverages or narcotic substances other than medical prescriptions on village premises or reporting to work under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
B.
Violation of any criminal law.
Failure of village employees to comply to this policy is likely to result in disciplinary action being taken appropriate to the violation(s).
The Village of LeRoy has made a commitment to ensure proper conduct by all employees so that employees' health and safety are protected, delivery of necessary service is not interrupted and village and personal property is protected. To further emphasize this commitment, a drug-free awareness program and an employee assistance program are available for any village employee and/or any family member of a village employee.
