[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Supervisors of Lower Frederick Township 1-5-2009 by Ord. No. 09-02. Amendments noted where applicable.]
It is hereby ordained that the Lower Frederick Police Department shall affiliate itself with the Montgomery County Drug Task Force and shall maintain and disperse drug intelligence, coordinate appropriate assistance for officers with their investigations and provide yearly up-to-date training in cooperation with the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.
Such affiliation is entered into pursuant to the provisions and authorization set forth in Pennsylvania statute 53 Pa.C.S.A. § 2301 et seq., as amended, relating to intergovernmental cooperation action and intergovernmental cooperative agreements.
The purpose and objective of the Task Force is to foster improved governmental cooperation between the Township of Lower Frederick and other similarly situated communities or municipal corporations throughout Montgomery County and the Office of the District Attorney for the County of Montgomery, by authorizing police officers to exercise their official duties as further directed and controlled by the Drug Task Force in and among these several municipalities of Montgomery County to further provide for mutual police aid across such jurisdictions to enforce the provisions of narcotic and drug laws thereby preserving the safety and welfare of the entire community and to further make available the services of police employed by any and all said participating municipalities in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth in the agreement and the Municipal Police Jurisdiction Act, 42 Pa. C.S.A § 8953.
Such affiliation shall be subject to all of the terms and conditions set forth in the Montgomery County Drug Task Force Guidelines, including but not limited to issues of financing, organizational structure, powers and scope of delegated authority, acquisition and management of property, both real and personal, and such other terms as may be necessary to implement said program. A true and correct copy of the Guidelines is attached here and made part of this chapter as Exhibit A.[1]

The duration of the affiliation shall be indefinite, subject to termination by the adoption of a repealing or terminating ordinance or resolution on behalf of the Township of Lower Frederick.
