[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Pompey 10-4-1993 by L.L. No. 4-1993. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The services provided by officers of the Town have become more and more complex over recent years and many positions, such as Code Enforcement Officer, require extensive special training. In order to facilitate the provision of quality services at a reasonable cost, the Town of Pompey desires, to the maximum extent possible, to share services with other municipalities. Accordingly, it is necessary to relax the residency requirements of the Town Law.
Effective with the effective date of this chapter, any appointed officer of the Town of Pompey can be a resident of any adjacent Town in Onondaga County or any Town in Madison County or Cortland County adjacent to the County of Onondaga.
The Town hereby expressly states its intention that this chapter shall supersede any provision of the Town Law of the State of New York to the contrary, including but not limited to § 23 of the Town Law.
