The position of independent auditor for the Borough of Milton is hereby established effective January 1, 1983, pursuant to Section 1005(7) of the Pennsylvania Borough Code (Act of February 1, 1966; 1965 P.L. No. 581 as amended).[1]

The independent auditor shall be appointed annually by the Borough Council of the Borough of Milton, by resolution duly adopted by the Milton Borough Council before the close of the fiscal year, and shall serve for a period of one year from the date of said appointment.
The independent auditor shall be paid compensation as determined by the Milton Borough Council at its sole discretion; said compensation to be paid on an annual basis or in installments as the Borough Council shall decide.
The independent auditor, designated hereunder, shall make an independent examination of the accounting records of the Borough for the fiscal year and shall perform the duties and be granted the powers designated for an independent auditor, pursuant to Sections 1196 through 1199 of the Pennsylvania Borough Code inclusive.[1]

The position of elected Borough Auditor is hereby abolished, provided that any auditors presently in office shall continue to hold their office during the term for which they are elected, but shall not audit, settle or adjust the accounts during the remaining period of their office, pursuant to Section 1005(7) of the Pennsylvania Borough Code.[1]
