It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, corporation or municipal authority to shut off the supply of water to any premises in the city occupied by any person or persons as a dwelling or in which any person or persons may be employed without giving the Health Officer of the city at least 48 hours' notice in advance. Nothing herein shall apply to temporary shutting off of the supply of water for the purpose of making repairs to the water system or any portion thereof or in emergencies.
Any person, firm, corporation or municipal authority violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof in a summary proceeding before any District Justice having jurisdiction of such offense, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $300 or to undergo imprisonment not exceeding 90 days, or both, for every such violation.
