As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
FULL TIME PERSONNEL
Those persons employed by the Township of Whitehall, on a salary or hourly basis, who devote at least 37 1/2 hours per week to the exclusive business of Whitehall Township.
RATE OF PAY
The amount of compensation received by a person on a regular work day.

A. 
Paid holidays shall be provided to all full-time personnel effective with the date of hire.
B. 
To receive holiday pay, full-time personnel must work the business day before and after the holiday.
(1) 
An authorized absence for those days may be approved prior to the holiday.
(2) 
If full-time personnel request a sick day before or after a holiday, a doctor's note shall be submitted upon return to work.
(3) 
Any unauthorized absences shall cause the holiday pay to be forfeited.

The following holidays are hereby established for observation by the Township:
A. 
New Year's Day.
B. 
Good Friday.
C. 
Memorial Day.
D. 
Independence Day (July 4th).
E. 
Labor Day.
F. 
Thanksgiving Day.
G. 
Day following Thanksgiving.
H. 
Christmas Eve Day.
I. 
Christmas Day.
J. 
Employee's birthday (under their collective bargaining agreement, police personnel observe President's Day rather than employee's birthday).

When, in the discretion of the Mayor, it shall be necessary for full-time personnel to work on any of the holidays enumerated in § 1-190 of this article, then that person shall receive 1 1/2 time their rate of pay for the actual number of hours worked, in addition to any other compensation or pay for the holiday to which that person is entitled.
Nothing contained hereby shall be construed or interpreted to entitle any person employed by the Township of Whitehall on a consulting or retainer basis to any rights or privileges under this article.
