The Township of Whitehall has adopted, for the purpose of establishing rules and regulations for the employees of Whitehall Township, the personnel rules and regulations and job classifications of Whitehall Township, which shall remain on file and available for inspection in the office of the Deputy Mayor.

Administration of the personnel rules and regulations shall be by the Mayor and his designated representatives.

Amendments to the personnel rules and regulations shall be prepared by the Mayor and shall be presented to the Board of Commissioners for their concurrence.

A. 
All persons employed by the Township of Whitehall on a full-time basis on December 11, 1985, shall be required to maintain his/her domicile within 15 miles of the prescribed geographic boundaries of Whitehall Township. He/she shall maintain his/her domicile within said area during the course of his/her employment with the Township. Employees residing outside these prescribed boundaries as of December 11, 1985, are exempt from the requirements of this § 1-212.
B. 
Should any Township employee presently residing outside of the established geographic limits change his/her domicile after December 11, 1985, he/she shall be required to make his/her domicile within the herein established geographic limits.
C. 
All persons who become employed by the Township of Whitehall following May 14, 1977, shall commence residence within the geographical limits established herein within a period of six months. An additional six months' grace period may be granted by the Board of Commissioners upon good cause shown.

A. 
Any employee found in violation of § 1-212 of this chapter will be permitted a grace period of 60 days within which to correct the violation, following the date that he is served with written notice setting forth the precise nature of the violation.
B. 
Any employee found in violation of § 1-212 after the 60 days grace period will be subject to immediate dismissal, provided he is afforded the opportunity of having a public or private hearing before the Mayor and the Board of Commissioners within a two week period from the date of the notice of his dismissal. Employees who are governed by the rules and regulations of the Whitehall Township Civil Service Commission shall be entitled to have a hearing in accordance with the rules and regulations of Whitehall Township Civil Service Commission, in lieu of the hearing required by this section.

None of the provisions of this article shall apply to the extent that they are inconsistent with the provisions or intent of federal or state statutes or regulations.

It shall be incumbent upon the Township Administration to receive and review in the most favorable light employment applications from individuals residing within Whitehall Township at the time of application.
