The seal heretofore provided and used by and for the city is described as follows: The seal is circular in shape, the outside circumference consisting of a rope design. Immediately within the rope design are the words "City of Hackensack, New Jersey" arranged in a circular manner, the phrase "City of Hackensack" being separated from the words "New Jersey" by two dots. Immediately within the words above mentioned is a circle of 64 dots. Within the circle of dots is portrayed the head of the Indian Chieftain Oratam, with the words "Oratam His Mark" placed immediately below the head.
This seal, represented as aforesaid and hereunto annexed, shall be and is hereby established and declared to have been and now to be the Common Seal of the City of Hackensack.
The City Clerk shall have the custody of the city seal, and the same shall be carefully preserved and kept at all times in the office of the City Clerk.
