A.
The City Clerk shall be appointed by the Mayor. The
City Clerk will serve at the pleasure of the Mayor.
B.
The City Clerk shall keep records, documents and other
papers belonging to the city. The Clerk shall act as Clerk of the
Common Council and attend all of its meetings. The Clerk's Office
is declared to be a City Clerk's office for the purpose of depositing
and filing all books and papers required by law to be filed in the
City Clerk's Office, and the Clerk shall possess all the powers and
all the duties of a City Clerk, except so far as the same shall be
inconsistent with other provisions of law. The Clerk shall keep an
account of all moneys received by the Clerk's Office belonging to
the city and upon receipt pay the same to the Comptroller.
C.
Have any other powers and duties as designated by
the Mayor.
The Deputy Clerk shall assist the City Clerk
in the performance of his aforesaid duties, and shall exercise such
powers and perform such duties when the City Clerk is present as the
City Clerk may direct and, in the absence of the City Clerk or his
inability to perform his duties in consequence of continued sickness
or in other emergencies, the Deputy City Clerk shall have all the
power and perform all the duties of the City Clerk. The Deputy City
Clerk shall receive for all services required to be rendered by him
a salary to be fixed by the Common Council.
