At each regular Town election a Mayor shall be separately elected
by the electors and shall serve until a successor shall be chosen
and qualified. The Mayor shall take office on the Tuesday following
the Town election.
The Mayor shall be a member and the presiding official of the
Council and shall have one vote, but only one vote, on each matter
voted upon by the Council. The Mayor shall be recognized as the official
head of the Town for ceremonial purposes and for military purposes.
The Mayor shall keep informed on Town matters and may make reports
and recommendations to the Council and electors of the Town on matters
of legislative concern and general Town policy. The Mayor may attend
any meeting of any board, commission or other governmental body of
the Town and shall receive such advance notification of any such meeting
as is given to the members of said bodies and shall have the full
right of participation in discussions but shall not have the right
to vote.
