A. 
There is hereby established in the Incorporated Village of Centre Island a department to be known and designated as the "Department of Building and Code Enforcement."
B. 
Department head; deputies. The Superintendent of the Building Department shall be the head of the Department of Building and Code Enforcement. There shall be such deputies, assistants and employees as may be authorized by the Board of Trustees and appointed by the Mayor, subject to approval of the Board of Trustees.
C. 
The Department of Building and Code Enforcement, through its duly qualified officers and employees, shall enforce the New York State Fire Prevention and Building Code as applicable to the Village and all provisions of the Village Code providing for enforcement and penalties.
Building permits and certificate of occupancy shall be signed and issued by the Building Superintendent or his deputies, assistants and employees, the Mayor or the Village Clerk only after a favorable determination of the Building Department. The term "Building Committee," as referenced in the Village Code, shall hereinafter be referred to as the "Department of Building and Code Enforcement."
