GENERAL REFERENCES
Proof of payment prior to issuance of licenses or permits — See Ch. 326, Art. I.
The practice of hawkers, peddlers, or itinerant vendors going uninvited upon private property constitutes an annoyance and danger to the people.
This chapter shall not apply to:
A. 
Any veteran or exempt fireman who holds a special state license.
B. 
Any person soliciting a vote or support for any political candidate or program.
C. 
Any person soliciting for a bona fide charitable, religious, patriotic, community service or philanthropic purpose or organization.
D. 
Any person making a delivery to any person who has previously ordered same.
E. 
Any person serving customers on a regular route at the customer's request.
A. 
No itinerant vendor may solicit except between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, inclusive, and then only after having filed an application and receiving a license.
B. 
State licensees shall first register with the Township.
A. 
No person shall be an itinerant vendor in the Township without first having obtained a license. Written application for such license shall be made to the Township Clerk and shall show:
(1) 
The name of the application and of all persons associated with him in his business;
(2) 
The type of business for which the license is desired;
(3) 
In case of transient merchants, the place where the business is to be carried on;
(4) 
The length of time for which the license is desired;
(5) 
A general description of the thing or things to be sold;
(6) 
The present place of business of the applicant;
(7) 
The places of business of the applicant for the two years last past.
B. 
The Township Clerk shall issue the license or permit within a period of 10 days of the date of receiving the application.

Fees for licenses under this chapter shall accompany the application and shall be as follows:
A. 
For one month or any part thereof: $25.
B. 
For one year or any part thereof: $40.
A. 
All licenses issued to persons or businesses as defined in this chapter shall apply to principal only, provided that one assistant will be allowed under such defined business, except as hereinafter provided in this section.
B. 
Where more than one assistant is employed in any one business, an additional license for each person in excess of two in any business must be secured. The additional license fees in each and every case shall be 1/2 of the fee as designated in § 265-5.
All licenses issued under the provisions of this chapter shall be carried by the licensee. All licenses granted shall be shown by the holder to any officer or resident of the Township demanding to see same.
Every license or permit shall remain in force and be valid only for the time stated thereon, and shall be used only by the person or persons to whom granted, and shall not be transferable. All yearly licenses shall run from January 1 of the year in which the license is issued. All monthly licenses shall run from the first day of the month in which license is issued.
Any person, firm, corporation, or business violating this chapter shall, upon conviction, be liable to the penalty in Chapter 1, General Provisions, Article III, General Penalty.
