WAKEFIELD HOME RULE CHARTER
Preamble
We, the people of Wakefield, in order to re-establish our individual
sovereignty with respect to the conduct of our local government and
to take the fullest advantages inherent in the Home Rule Amendment
to the Constitution of the Commonwealth, do hereby adopt the following
Home Rule Charter for the Town of Wakefield.

Editor’s Note: Article 5 of the Regular Town Meeting
of 11-6-2017 provided for the replacement of the words "Board of Selectmen”
and “Selectmen” with the words “Town Council”;
the replacement of the word “Chairman” with the word “Chairperson”;
and the replacement of the words “full Boardl” with the
words “full Council” throughout the Charter.
