Police pension plan — See Ch. 45, Art. I.
A Police Department is hereby established in the Township of Schuylkill, County of Chester, and State of Pennsylvania, in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.
The office of Chief of Police is hereby established; the Chief of Police shall be appointed by and under the direction of the Board of Supervisors of the Township; he shall be the chief executive of the Police Department; he shall be in charge of the police force and have supervision over its members in the exercise of their powers, duties and authority, and he shall perform such other duties as the Board of Supervisors of the Township shall, from time to time, by ordinance or resolution, direct; and he shall receive such salary and remuneration as the Board of Supervisors of the Township shall, from time to time, by ordinance or resolution, provide.
The classification of patrolman is hereby established, such classification to be subordinate to the Office of Chief of Police; and the Board of Supervisors of the Township may, from time to time, establish such other and further classifications within the Police Department, subordinate to the Office of Chief of Police; and the persons to serve in the classification of patrolman, and in such other and further classifications as the Board of Supervisors of the Township shall establish, and the number and compensation thereof, shall be as determined by the Board of Supervisors of the Township from time to time, by ordinance or resolution.[1]
